Legendary jump-jet of the Royal Navy in the Falklands war of 1982. It was to that conflict what the Spitfire was to the Battle of Britain. In aerial combat with the Argentine airforce, the naval pilots flew mission after mission virtually without rest, protecting the fleet and facilitating the British victory on land. Equipped with these slower but more manoeuverable fighters, the Sea Harrier squadron shot down 21 enemy aircraft, losing none of their own planes to enemy pilots.
