Dusk Mermaid

This painting is all about emotion, mood and atmosphere, although different viewers may read different things in it. I am fond of sunsets, but almost more so of the immediate aftermath - when there is still some fading light - especially over a lapping tide. (I must go down to the sea again...) The mermaid's calm expression perhaps reflects the wistful melancholia of such a setting.
