Oils, June 2009

Something Gothie, vampiric and faintly piracical. The little skeletons reflect a memory of an item on an programme on weird stuff that I used to find entertaining, called Fortean TV, presented by a tuneful biker priest called Father Lionel Fanthorpe. One item concerned a small skeleton, found in a cabinet, which brought bad luck to whoever possessed it. Some mystic crackpot claimed to have received revelations that the skeleton (which turned up in the port of Brixham in Devon) was that of a sailor, who had been cursed to shrink after upsetting a witch-doctor somewhere overseas. In fact it was obviously the skeleton of a foetus.
